It is safe to say that Karate is in Sensei Luke's blood with his father being Sensei Ian; so his Karate journey began as soon as he was able to walk! It has always been a part of his life and always will. He attained his 1st Dan aged 11 and is currently a 4th Dan.
Sensei Luke believes Karate is not just about competition, "It's about challenging yourself and pushing to find your limits, then working out ways to go beyond them!". As a kid it helped him improve in fitness and confidence. Through improving these qualities he secured a football scholarship in America.

He loves Karate and being a part of UKA, "The feeling of being part of a club with so much great history, that is always moving forward, with instructors that are like family and watching students grow into good human beings... it is very special to me."

Since retiring from competition in 2022 luke has continued to develop UKA in a number of areas including training his own students and developing various champions. Working alongside sensei Dan and Ian he has developed our full contact training scheme for MMA striking.

As a sought after coach Luke has run seminars throughout the UK on a number of topics including sweeps, takedowns and competition performance.

Luke has also developed our school PE programs and created our own physical education syllabus in collaboration with SAQ to bring the UKA ethos to a growing number of schools. The school programs have expanded our club into more areas and continues to grow.
